01

the map has a hard edge

Why these places cost £7/day.

UK plans usually treat EU and EEA destinations as their included roaming zone. Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Cape Verde and Dubai sit outside that familiar zone, so your domestic allowance does not automatically follow you there.

The fallback is a carrier day pass or standard roaming rate. The exact number depends on your plan, but £6–8 per day is a useful warning line: a fortnight can cost more than a one-off data bundle before you have posted a single photo.

One trip. One bill. Check before the plane doors open.

The fine-print traps.

A cheap-looking connection can still become a paid connection.

01

Fair-use caps abroad.

Some plans reduce or stop included roaming after a fair-use threshold. Check the roaming allowance, not just the headline domestic data.

02

50GB roam limits.

Some offers cap roaming at 50GB even when your UK plan advertises more data at home. Tethering and speed rules can also differ.

03

30 seconds can start a pass.

A day pass may auto-charge when your phone makes a short connection abroad. Use airplane mode until you know what your plan includes.

Four useful answers.

Are these exact roaming rates?

O2 Turkey, Three Turkey, EE Turkey and the Vodafone Turkey standard rate are marked from the July 2026 brief. Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Cape Verde and Dubai use a typical day-pass rate, so check your plan.

Why does the calculator call out fair use?

Roaming can have a separate allowance from your UK data. Your carrier may slow, cap or charge usage after the fair-use limit. The plan terms win.

Does an eSIM replace my UK number?

No. The one-off eSIM is the data alternative shown here. Keep your UK SIM available for your number and use the travel eSIM for data when you land.

What if my destination is Dubai?

Dubai is included in the roaming estimate, but no Dubai product appears in the supplied Sunroam catalogue. We have left checkout unlinked rather than inventing a SKU or price.
